King Julien XIII

Looking at the picture of Max got me thinking about things I kind of miss about not having younger children at home. Cartoons! Max and I spent a morning not that long ago watching the Penguins of Madagascar. I have to add that to my list of guilty pleasures. I used to sit with my kids to watch cartoons. There is something special about sitting and laughing with a child.

My favorite character in PoM is King Julien XIII. In Merry Madagascar, King Julien mistakenly thinks Alex is the "red night goblin". The "red night goblin" comes by every year on the 24th of Julianuary and pelts the island with coal. King Julien is so self absorbed that he has no idea why his island is pelted with coal.

Man, I can identify with that. I can't tell you how many times I've had coal pelt down on me and I still didn't get it. I have spent, and probably still do spend, way too much time on self absorption. Maybe that's why I enjoy watching the goofy King Julien. It's a way of poking fun at my own failings. King Julien also likes to tell people what to do and to delegate, not to mention he is a self proclaimed king. Ah, the resemblance becomes even more pronounced? (No comments friends and family!)

I often have my inner radio station playing, "I like to move it move it" from the first movie. Click on the following link if you want to see it on youtube.

In the mean time I think I'll go dance around doing my housework with "I like to move it move it" on my song reel, on repeat!
