You've Got a Friend in Me

I have some of the best friends. They are a constant source of encouragement to me. I want to tell you about what one of them is doing for me right now. I get a text on some evenings that is just a Bible verse. I look it up on my iPhone as I get ready to go to sleep. It never fails to make me smile and lighten my heart. I find great comfort in the verses. They come at such a perfect time too, right as I'm going to sleep. She won't realize until she reads this how much they mean to me.

When you are on a long journey such as ours, sometimes the encouragement drops off a little. Not because people don't care, but because they become desensitized to the situation. It's just a fact of human nature.

I guess that's why these little things stand out. The Bible verses in the evening. I know it will change the way I am in the future as my friends go through difficulties. It doesn't take a big gesture to show that you care. My other friends send texts or emails. They are just a phone call away to laugh or cry with me. If I really needed them I know they would get in a car and come to me.
