Leftovers?

Please continue to pray for Bland. We are still waiting to hear his diagnosis.

Are you doing your part for Cyber Monday? I got some really great deals. Lots of places have free shipping plus a percentage off your order. One place I ordered from I saved over $100 and got free shipping. Much better than our experience on Black Friday. Jamie, Katie, Kristen, Madison, Stephi and I set off before 5 a.m. and didn't really get what we were looking for. I WILL NEVER GO TO WALMART ON BLACK FRIDAY AGAIN. No amount of savings are worth venturing into that crowd. Now the funny trip was made by Devin and Keith. Since the girls were getting up early, they stayed up to do the midnight Toys R Us run. Ha Ha! They weren't gone but 20 minutes. Enough time for them to get there and back. I guess the entire parking lot was full of cars and the line of people stretched from the store to around a portion of the lot towards Chick Fil A. Devin said, and I quote, "They sent a man to do a woman's job."

We have ruined our children. Or as they say here, they are 'ruint'. Kristen is getting items together for her apartment. She will start moving in sometime here in December. Why do our children think that they need new or the best? We got lots of hand me downs when we were their age. Kristen was okay after I explained to her that she can't have all brand new things. One of our friends said she could have the good stuff when she got married and she could register for the good stuff. This got me to thinking that this generation will have a lot of difficulty dealing with a prolonged recession. My generation remembers a little of cutting back but even so we have no idea what our parents generation had to endure. I also think that the advances of technology have caused people to want more. We know more about what is out there and we are brainwashed into thinking we need this or that.

Speaking of which, both of our kids will be getting a good portion of their Christmas stuff early. Steven will be going on a ski trip and Kristen will need some essentials for her apartment. I hope they are really prepared for fewer packages under the tree.

Finally, I look forward to Kristen's move with anticipation and dread. I want my 'normal' back but I also expect a time of feeling lonely without her here all the time.
