In my daily devotional yesterday I read, "When I stop telling God what I want, He can freely work His will in me without any hindrance." Those words jumped off the page for me. Think about them. We tend to spend our prayer time asking specifics from God. I remember when that changed during Kristen's illness. When I let go of her, a terrible burden was lifted from me. I acknowledge to Him that my desire was for her complete healing. BUT, I said not my desire but yours God. I acknowledge to Him that I knew whatever the outcome, He would lead me through the dark waters that lay ahead. Every day I still have to lay down my desires and acknowledge that they are like my Christmas wish list. My wishes. And God the wonderful Father that He is chooses from the wish list or chooses another perfect gift that I didn't even know I wanted or needed until it is given to me.
Cozumel --
We had a wonderful break. Despite the rain and the threat of tropical storm Ida. We enjoyed each others company, laughed, slept(well Devin and I did, our friends, not so much), drank, ate, relaxed. Our arrival was foreshadowing for the week, as our pilot had to abort the initial landing due to weather conditions. That was an unexpected thrill ride. Now that I think of it, we had to abort our initial plans due to weather conditions. Instead of pouting, we bought decks of cards and amused ourselves with dirty monkeys(cocktails) and games of hearts. When the sky would clear we would lay in the sun like lizards or Iguanas(saw several around) or grab the snorkeling gear. I am pleased to say that I loved the snorkeling and think maybe I could move on to scuba diving. I got to see a barracuda, well kind of, I would glimpse him and then maneuver myself so that Devin would be between me and the Barracuda. I got to see and eel and a needle fish and a grouper right by the shore. I remember thinking, "Ew! What if I would have stepped on that!" Devin got to get some diving in and saw a sea turtle. The rain let up on Sunday and we rented a jeep and drove around the island. The guys were in great luck because the majority of the shops are closed on Sunday! We had cerveza's at Coconuts with the dogs, roosters, cats, parakeets and turtles. We didn't get to do everything we had hoped to but we had fun nevertheless. And because of the damp I was able to bring the smells of our trip back for the kids! Priceless.
(I'll post pictures later.)
