Remember the Love is... cartoon? We used to see them all over the place and they would run in the local newspapers. I was thinking about it this morning so googled it. Did you know that the Love is... cartoon was created in the 60's by Kim Casali when she drew a little cartoon for her husband-to-be Roberto? It wasn't until the 70's that these cartoons were syndicated. Casali passed away in 1997 but her cartoon legacy is maintained by her son Stefano with the artistic talents of Bill Asprey. Asprey was hired to manage the cartoon in 1975 after Roberto was diagnosed with an incurable cancer. This freed Kim to do the writing. The cartoon has been criticized as showing "women as childish, simple-minded dependents whose function is to serve man." As a ghost-cartoonist Asprey has drawn the cartoon for over 30 years. Kim's son Stefano made a name for himself in advertising for Saatchi and Saatchi. He left there in 1999 to take full control of "Minikim" his mothers company. To see the comic daily go to
