Tales of Teens

Are my kids the only ones in the world that can sleep in the shower? I swear every morning I have to wake Steven up twice. Once to get in the shower and then later to get him out, dressed and down to breakfast. I just don't get it. He certainly isn't concerned with water conservation. How in the world do you sleep in the shower? I can't imagine sitting down and letting it pelt down on me while I dozed. Kristen did this when she was in high school also. If they would get to it I could let them sleep in longer. This morning I got distracted and let him 'shower' for 30 minutes!

Yesterday was Steven's first day driving to school on his own. I'm so thankful for cell phones. He texts me when he gets there and again when he goes to head home. Mom is visiting and I asked her about worrying when we were new drivers. She told me that one of my first dates was with a new driver who took me to Wichita. Wichita is about 45 minutes south of where I grew up. I guess he told his family that as soon as he got his full license (at 16) he was going to get a date and go to Wichita for dinner. No cell phones back then so you got to worry for hours! That is unless you followed without them knowing to make sure they got there. Note: Mom also said that she probably shouldn't have let me go since I was only 14. I like to think I was just that persuasive. I joke and say it's all my sister's fault that I didn't get to go to prom that year either. I was asked but my big sis said you can't let her go. I like to think I would've talked her into it if it weren't for her.

I swear I've forgotten so much from growing up. My mom and family are constantly saying do you remember...I don't! I'll just say I live in the moment and not the past. So I don't have old-timers I guess. Otherwise I would remember the past better? I have a funny sign in my house that says "I smile because I have no idea what is going on". That's my motto.
