The Truth vs. Lies

I have mentioned how God has worked through our trial. How we find ourselves enriched spiritually. How God can use the broken vessels that we are to further His Kingdom. But Satan would also like to use this opportunity.

Devin and I have the pleasure of serving God through a couple of committees in which we are involved. I mentioned to him the other day that I had considered resigning from these positions because I didn't know how I had the energy or time to serve. He reminded me that this was what Satan would like to happen. He would like nothing better than for us to pull away from serving God. If Satan can keep us distracted by our current life situation than he succeeds in preventing us from serving God. I find that we not only fight against Kristen's disease but against Satan's desire to keep us shackled by it.

For example, in the past 30 days, I have felt attacks on my mental health. I have had panic attacks and periods of extreme melancholy. I have felt overwhelmed, irritable and lethargic. I also found myself dwelling on untruths that Satan would like me to focus on. In short, Satan is pulling out his arsenal of ways he can get to me. He would like me to be too tired to read my Bible, too tired to invest in relationships that lift me up, too tired to find healthy outlets to stress. So reading this it is obvious that I have been depressed. Well guess what, that is one of Satan's great tools. Several years ago, I did a study that focused on the book Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. Our thoughts our powerful. If Satan can start feeding you lies and get you to believe them ... well he can keep you from living the life that God would like you to live. Instead of believing those lies start searching for the truth in who God says you are. The truth in what God desires for you. In short turn back to the word of God. That's what I am trying to do.

Please pray for protection for our family from Satan. Protection from his desire to keep us so tied up in our own lives that we become ineffective servants in God's Kingdom. Pray that we can have discernment in knowing the truth from the lies that Satan would like us to believe.

I really hesitated over if I wanted to post this our not. We don't like to talk about the presence of evil. But it is real and it would like to have control over our lives.
